Foundation courses are basically coaching centers where students prepare for NDA exam. After passing class 10th these coaching centers insists joining these foundation classes where students study in coaching classes full day and prepare for NDA exam.
These students take admission in colleges affiliated to these coaching centers for class 12th and rather than going to college in 12th,these students study in these coaching center's foundation classes. These coaching centers promise to give better education and guidance for NDA exam and Airforce,Navy exams. But the question is, Are these foundation courses really important or they are making fool everyone and looting the money of the parents of the students.

Are foundation classes important for NDA exam?

As we all know there are two exams in NDA, first one in Mathematics and second one is GAT.
Let's talk about Mathematics.

  • Mathematics for nda exam

Mathematics is a very important subject for NDA. The standard of mathematics in NDA is very high so candidates have to understand the concepts of mathematics. If candidate has just passed 10th and currently in 11/12th then he should focus on the mathematics of 11th and 12th class and with this he can also sharpen his preparation with the other very important books like RD Sharma mathematics book and NCERT.
The role of Previous year question papers will be very important so a candidate should also buy a book of Previous year question papers.
So from the mathematics point of view Foundation courses are not that much important.

GAT for Nda exam

  • Science

In GAT the first is science section for 50 marks. If a student has read the science books in class 10th and his basics are clear then he should not worried about science section because in NDA exam usually the major portion of science comes from 9th and 10th classes. So from GAT point of view joining foundation course is not important.

  • English

Second section of GAT is English. The majority marks in English covered by vocabulary and reading sections like comprehensions. If a candidate wants to score maximum marks in English then he will have to learn vocabulary self and improve his reading skills by reading English books. Here the role of coaching institute in this is very minimal.

So from English point of view joining foundation course is not that much important however students can take a saperate coaching for English subject.

  • GA

Students can face some issue in GA section because from 10th class books it will be hard to cover NDA syllabus. But nowadays on YouTube various teachers are available for GA/GS preparation.NCERT books from class 6th to 12th can be very useful because it is seen that question in NDA comes directly from NCERT.For current affairs students can follow newspapers or youtube sessions on current affairs,it would be enough.

  • Conclusion

If you are in 11th or 12th class then you should not join Foundation course for NDA exam rather than joining coaching, students should focus on the books of class 11th and 12th and try to read NCERT books for detailed information and understanding the concepts deeply.

Joining a Foundation course for the National Defence Academy (NDA) can be beneficial, especially if you need additional preparation in subjects like mathematics, physics, and English. So after 12th students can think about joining foundation course for NDA.Consider your current level of preparedness and whether you would benefit from the extra support provided by a Foundation course.
